The short version

ViralEngine is an experimental AI-assisted video editing service. We collect the account details needed to sign you in, store the videos you upload and the edits we make from them, and use a small set of processors — including OpenAI and Stripe — so the product can actually run.

Your media is kept per account and is not publicly available to other users. ViralEngine does not use your media to train AI models. You can delete a job’s media yourself, and we auto-delete media after a 14-day default retention window.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address, a hashed password, and an optional display name. If you reset your password, we send a one-time link to that email.
  • Your media and edit data: uploaded videos, transcripts, editing plans, job logs, and generated outputs. These are stored under your account. Other users cannot open them.
  • Usage analytics: first-party product events such as pages viewed, uploads started, and downloads. Those events do not include your media or transcript text.
  • Payments: Stripe processes checkout and card details. ViralEngine does not store full card numbers.

How your video is processed

To edit a video we transcribe the audio and run story analysis through OpenAI APIs, as the product currently works. That means OpenAI receives the audio or transcript needed for those steps, under OpenAI’s terms. Cutting, mixing, and quality checks run in our editing pipeline.

Other providers may also process data when that is required to operate the service — for example Stripe for payments, email delivery if a password-reset message is sent, and the hosting or storage infrastructure the beta runs on. They receive only what they need to do that job, under their own terms.

ViralEngine does not sell your data to advertisers and does not use your media to train AI models. We also do not publish or reuse your footage as a showcase without asking you first.

Cookies and analytics

We use a first-party session cookie so you stay signed in. It is HTTP-only and is not used for advertising.

Product analytics are first-party. In the browser we store a random anonymous id in local storage so we can understand funnel events before signup. We do not use third-party ad trackers.

How long we keep media

  • Uploaded videos, transcripts, editing plans, and outputs are deleted from our active storage 14 days after a job finishes by default in the beta. The exact window shown in your account matches the current setting.
  • You can delete a job’s media immediately from the job page or History — source, transcript, saved editing plan, and output. The history row can remain, marked as media deleted.
  • Deleting your account ends access, invalidates your sessions, and purges your media directory from our active storage. Remaining unused minutes are no longer available.

We delete media from the storage we operate. We do not claim that every copy disappears instantly from logs, backups, or a processor’s systems if those exist as part of ordinary operations.

When we may disclose information

We may disclose information if we believe it is legally required, or if it is reasonably necessary to protect ViralEngine, the service, or other people — for example to investigate abuse, prevent fraud, or respond to a valid request from a rights holder.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect accounts and media: passwords are hashed, sessions are stored as token hashes, and media paths are isolated per account. No online service is perfectly secure. You should use a strong password and review any short before you publish it.

Changes

This is an early beta. Privacy practices may change as the product evolves. When they do, we will update this page and the date at the top.

Contact

The delete controls in the product are the fastest path for media. For anything else, including an account or data question, use the contact page.
